Clearing Agent A chemical that neutralizes hypo in film or paper, reducing wash time and helping to provide a more stable image.

 


-Clearing agent - processing solution used to remove stains or to cancel out the effect of chemicals left on the sensitive material left from previous stages in the process.

Clearing Agent - A chemical that neutralizes fixing agents in film or paper. It reduces processing time and often results in a more stable image.

Fixer and Hypo Clearing Agent (HCA) should be mixed according to the package instructions. Powder fixers often come with the hardener included in one package. Other liquid fixers require mixing of 2 elements.

The use of a washing aid such as Hypo Clearing Agent will reduce wash time, and help eliminate any of the magenta sensitizing dye so you will get nice clear film base.
INTENSIFICATION AND REDUCTION ...

A 'hypo' clearing agent may be added to this step in the process where time constraints are a concern and can reduce this phase down to as fast as five minutes.
