Coated Lens A lens covered with a very thin layer of transparent material that reduces the amount of light reflected by the surface of the lens. A coated lens is faster (transmits more light) than an uncoated lens.

COATED LENS - A lens that has a thin layer of transparent substance applied to its surface to reduce light reflection from the surface.

Coated Lens
This refers to a fine layer of transparent material that is placed over a lens to reduce the amount light reflected off the surface of the lens.

Coated Free Sheet: A paper containing less than 10% groundwood pulp.
Coin Envelope: Small Catalog envelope.

Coated stock.
Paper stock which has been coated with some material (typically a coating derived from fine clay or from plastic resin) designed to increase the contrast range of the paper by making it whiter and present a smoother surface for printing.

Coated lens - lens with air-glass surfaces which have been coated with magnesium fluoride to reduce lens flare.

coated lens
a camera lens that has been coated with an ultra-thin film, usually bluish in color to minimize glare or flare from extraneous lights not a color correction method.

Cast coated papers have a coating that hardens in contact with a polished chrome surface that gives it an exceptionally glossy finish.

Resin-coated paper (RC)
Printing paper with a water-repellent base. RC papers can be processed faster; requires less washing, and dry far more quickly than fibre-based papers.

Resin Coated Paper: Photographic paper that has thin coating of plastic resin on the backside of the paper and in between the emulsion and paper support.

I use coated UV filters, mostly as protectors for the front elements of my lenses, and I like to use circular polarizer when appropriate for some of my outdoor photography. I also have a set of split neutral density filters.

A lens coated with a thin film of mineral-based material, which reduces 'flare' (undesirable scattered light); sometimes referred to as a bloomed lens.

Transparent coated on lens elements that helps reduce reflections and flare to improve image contrast.

[edit] Resin-coated papers (RC)
The paper base of resin-coated papers is sealed by two polyethylene layers, making it impenetrable to liquids.

A sturdy metal-coated, spring bound click 'n' slide door covers the battery compartment. The Coolpix 5200 uses an EL-EL5 rechargeable lithium ion battery pack ( charger included, of course).

Photographic papers used in Navy imaging facilities are either coated with polyethylene or are resin-coated. These papers are coated on both sides of the base.

Lens coating: Normal uncoated glass reflects about 5% of the light at each glass-air boundary.

1837: Louis Daguerre creates images on silver-plated copper, coated with silver iodide and "developed" with warmed mercury; ...

Ink jet papers need to be specially coated and should have excellent ink adherence, because ink jet inks are more absorbent than toners or solid inks.
They should be scratch and kink resistant and have high densities for vibrant colors.

2X: KENKO Teleplus Pro 300 converters are made with high quality multicoated optical glass supplied by Hoya corporation, the worlds largest manufacturer of optical glass.

The film base is usually plastic such as tri-acetate or polyester which is coated with a light sensitive emulsion. The emulsion consists of gelatin containing light sensitive silver halide crystals such as silver bromide and silver chloride.

The photo-sensitive material called photo-resist coated on the wafer goes into an exposed state by absorbing a single photon.

Meanwhile, a plate coated with a film of gelatin was soaked in a metol developer. The photographic plate was then immersed face down in the developer and after about five seconds was pressed into contact with the gelatin plate.

Once coated, the paper can either be left to dry by air in a darkened room or heat dried with a hair dryer.

Popular sizes are usually blue-coated to give light approximating to daylight. Flash bulbs come in various sizes and types. All work by burning metal' foil in an oxygen 'atmosphere within the glass bulb.

Elements (pixels) are coated alternately with RGB filters. This pattern may be in stripes or a mosaic. Some arrays have twice as many green elements as red or blue creating an apparently more detailed image because the eye is more sensitive to green.

The inner surface of the CRT is coated with phosphors, which glow and produce light when hit by an electron beam.

A transparent base coated with photosensitive emulsion. As a photographer you must choose between color and black and white, print and slide, size (110mm, 35mm, 4 x 5 inch, etc., depending on your camera), ...

Earlier this year though, this same company released a new cleaning solution called E2 for cameras featuring something known as an Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coated sensor.

Integrating sphere - A hollow sphere coated internally with a white diffusing material and provided with openings for incident beam, specimen and detector used for measuring the diffuse reflectance or transmittance of objects.

-Schumann plate - plate coated with an emulsion with so little gelatin content that the silver halide grains protrude above its surface. Used for photography in the ultraviolet region.

Multicoated UV filters can dramatically reduce the chance of flare, and keeping your filter very clean minimizes any reduction in image quality (although even invisible micro abrasions will affect sharpness/contrast).

Emulsion Side
The side of the film coated with emulsion. In contact printing and enlarging, the emulsion side of the film-dull side-should face the emulsion side of the photo paper-shiny side.

Baryta substrate or base-The paper upon which emulsion is coated. Baryta is a fiber base paper that is more stable than plastic coated paper.

It usually should refer to a limited edition, fine art print, onto archival quality coated paper, and printed with pigment inks, which are UV stable.

Glossy
Glossy finish images tend to look as if they are wet or have been coated in clear lacquer.
Reflections often make it difficult to see image in bright light

Base
The material on which the emulsion is coated on film, photographic paper or videotape. Available in a choice of materials, including paper, cellulose, triacetate, glass and estar.

Film. A roll or sheet of a flexible material coated on one side with a light-sensitive emulsion and used in the camera to record an image.

LCD - The LCD on some digicams is difficult to see in bright sunlight. Digicams with a coated LCD help a lot. On the other hand, many digital cameras' LCDs are difficult to see in low light.

On the right side of the camera (as viewed from the rear) are the AV Out and USB port concealed by a chrome-coated soft plastic door. Below that is the wrist strap attachment eyelet.
The opposite side of the camera is completely bare.

The thing I look for in a 'skylight' or UV filter is multicoating. I use HOYA multicoated filters on all but my most wide-angle lenses (where they can cause vignetting).

French inventor Nicephore Niepce produced the first permanent image in the history of photography. Niepce used a camera obscura and paper coated with photosensitive chemicals.

Appears as non-uniform haze or bright spots on the film or digital frame, often taking the shape of the aperture, generally caused from shooting towards the light source. The use of uncoated filters makes a lens more prone to flare; ...

By the time the poor photographer has figured out her composition, exposure, and other settings, the camera and lens is coated in water.

Giant waves threw themselves onto the lava-lined shore. What a shot this would be when the sun rose. The only problem-I could barely open the car door! The wind howled and the ocean spray coated the windshield with a thick layer of salt.
