Color Saturation adjustment
Color saturation can be controlled over five levels, just as with the other parameters. The minus settings could be useful for maintaining bright colors while staying in the sRGB color space.
Color saturation. Intensity of color in a photograph. To increase color saturation when shooting transparencies, under-expose slightly, perhaps by 1/3 of an f-stop.
Color Saturation allows you to adjust the saturation of colors in the image.
Color saturation - The intensity or "colourfulness" of an image. Low colour saturation will result in an image in which the colours are muted or look faded. High colour saturation will result in an image with very vivid colours.

-Color saturation - purity or strength of color, due to the absence of black, white or gray.
-Color sensitivity - response of a sensitive material to colors of different wavelengths.
Color saturation. Colors can be too washed out and lacking in intensity. They can also be too 'hot' where it starts to look unnatural.
Too much color saturation? Not a good thing.

To increase color saturation in Nikon D3000, D3100, D5000, D90, D300, D300s, D700, D7000, D3 and D3X, look through your cameras menu for an item called 'Picture Controls'.
Next we look at Color Saturation. Again, this is to taste, but I run mine up to about 70. You can adjust the luminosity control to modify the overall brightness of the image.
Color saturation-The scattering of light not only affects contrast and brightness but also color saturation. Color is defined by three qualities: hue (the actual wavelength), saturation (intensity or chroma), and brightness (reflective).
Kodachrome 25 was a fine grained film with fairly accurate color reproduction and good color saturation. Over the last 8 years or so I used Fuji Velvia and Fuji Provia F ISO 100 transparency films for almost all of my 35mm photography.
This film has very high color saturation, but it seems to only have one shade of each color. I.e., a slightly red leaf is rendered in the film's only red, which is bright.
- You can try changing the Strength of the HDR Tone Mapping and the Color Saturation. Photomatix sometimes makes the colors a little too saturated.
- Luminosity affects the brightness of the image.
If a scene contains shadows and highlights, loss of color saturation or detail will occur. Use a slow fine grain slide for best results. Slower films are sharper and have tighter grain than faster films, but require longer exposure times.
One way is to shoot at the times of day when color saturation can be maximized. The magic hours of sunrise and sunset allow this to occur.

Technique: These stationary subjects also allow the framer photographer to approach and shoot multiple exposures.
'Color Saturation' is self explanatory. The 'Light Smoothing' radio buttons smooth the variations in contrast I just boosted.
One of the more interesting capabilities of curves is the ability to bump color saturation and achieve a "Digital Velvia" effect. RGB is not the color space of choice for manipulating color saturation with curves.
Enlargements made with fast film can have a grainy appearance and color saturation may not be as good as slower films. Films with an ISO of 400 or higher are only needed when light is limited or long lenses are being hand held.

If you can get better color saturation, you can always adjust the color balance via software. It's not always possible to get it right the first time. Kudos to Derrick for discussing some of the features that are available on these cameras.

Circular polarizing filters remove reflections from glass, water, and other reflective surfaces, darken blue skies, and improve color saturation. If you use a linear polarizing filter, you can't use autofocus.
Often photographers are in denial about nasty weather. They will overexpose to brighten outdoor scenes and tweak color saturation for sunnier color palettes. The results are rarely worth the effort, and no one is fooled.
