DUPLICATING 35mm COLOR SLIDES To get additional copies of a color slide, you must either make several exposures of the original scene or make duplicates from the original slide.

Color slides or transparencies, give a positive image. They produce more brilliant colors and give better sharpness than print films. Unlike print films, slides require a loupe or a projector for better viewing.

Color slides make you feel like a hero. Slides viewed on a light table have much more tonal range than a print viewed with reflected light. Also, your images won't be ruined by the slings and arrows of outrageous automated printing machines.

Just as some ISO 400 color slide films produce better image quality than others, some digital SLRs produce better image quality at a given ISO setting than others, particularly at the higher ISO settings.

Color slide film can show usable detail in about a 3.5 f stop range. Digital cameras will vary in their ability to capture the range of light from shadows to highlights (dynamic range or DMAX).

Photographers shooting color slide film must always keep in mind the very limited dynamic range of the film and the fact that the image can not be adjusted after exposure.

The usual solution to such a problem would be to tweak the color sliders in the printer driver until prints come out at least in the right ballpark relative the monitor.
