Colour gamut
The range of colours that can be formed by all possible combination of colorants in any colour input system.
Like monitors, printing inks also produce a colour gamut that is only a subset of the visible spectrum, although the range is not the same for both.
This proprietary technology offers an innovative image file format similar to a JPEG, but with the dynamic range and colour gamut information of raw DCR camera files.
No device can faithfully reproduce the entire range of colours; those it can reproduce are its colour gamut. An inkjet printer which produces a good range of bright colours may be said to have a wide gamut.

sRGB is used on the web by browsers and many cheaper digital cameras. The colour gamut is much more limited compared to AdobeRGB, but it also means that lots of similar shades will be rendered more smoothly than in AdobeRGB.
(Most giclee printers will print to an inkjet printer in RGB however, as there is better (wider) colour gamut, and scanners capture images in RGB). These are the primary colours of the halftone printing process (offset lithography).
