Colour model
A colour measurement scale or system that numerically specifies the perceived attributes of colour. Used in computer graphics applications and by colour measurement instruments.

L*a*b* is a colour model developed by the Centre Internationale D'Éclairage (CIE). These standards are internationally accepted standards for all colourmetric measurements.

CMYK - Cyan, magenta, yellow, black; often called process colours; a colour model used to optimize images for printing in which all colours are described as a mixture of these four colours.

A term used to describe the complete range of colours of the spectrum. Hue is the component that determines just what colour you are using. In gradients where you use a colour model in which hue is a component, you can create some rainbow effects.

They represents the additive colour model, where 0% of each component yields black and 100% of each component yields white. Red, green and blue are the additive complements of cyan, magenta, and yellow respectively.
