Colour Palette
Things are displayed on your monitor according to a specified number of colours in a color palette, e.g.: 256 colours. The theory is that more colours = more vivid picture quality.
Keep the colour palette simple and harmonious. I work on getting a palette of a maximum of three colours to work together - one hero colour and one complimentary colour and then a more subdued tone for the rest of the shot.
Nothing inspires a new colour palette like looking out your window. Colours change with the seasons, and on a daily basis with the weather (especially in England!).
Metering, white balance, and especially JPEG colour palette are all excellent (all of which are traditional Olympus strengths).
PCX
PCX format is commonly used by IBM PC-compatible computers. Most PC software supports version 5 of PCX format. A standard VGA colour palette is used with version 3 files, which do not support custom colour palettes.

Greater bit depth allows more colours to be used in the colour palette for the image.
