A 35mm compact is a camera that is usually small enough to fit into a bag or coat pocket. Its ideal of you dont want much fuss or easily become confused by complicated features.
Long zoom compact cameras, as opposed to standard compact digital cameras, typically use a smaller sensor that is vulnerable to difficult lighting conditions since light has a harder time reaching the CCD sensor.

Basic compact cameras
Basic compact cameras have a fixed lens that is suitable for most picture-taking situations. However, this limits your ability to shoot close-ups; photos taken closer than 18 to 24 inches will be blurry.
Compact cameras are designed to be small and portable; the smallest are described as subcompacts or "ultra-compacts".
Compact cameras are different, however. They do not have any advanced depth of field features, and they usually come with wide-angle lenses and a small aperture as a default.

35mm Compact Cameras
Nearly all 35mm compact cameras have just a single focal length lens and fixed (or focus-free) lenses that are capable of producing sharp pictures of subjects about 4 to 5 feet away to infinity.
