Contouring
A visual effect in an image as a result of low brightness resolution which appears as bands of sharp, distinct, brightness change. Very similar to banding.

-Contour film - special print film producing a equidensity line image from a continuous tone negative or print.

Another name for banding or posterization.
Contrast filter
A coloured filter used on a camera to lighten or darken selected colours in a black and white photograph.

sLight-Beam Contour
This striking image is based on a photograph from a 1954 edition of LIFE Magazine, showing how the US Air Force used light-beam contour mapping to design flight helmets.
