Contrast Ratios - Measures contrast in a scene and controls focus. Higher contrast results in sharper focus, and more defined, crisp imagery.

CONTRAST RATIO - The difference between the darkest and lightest areas of a subject, stated in a mathematical ratio.

contrast ratio
(1) a measure of the opacity of a paper, ranging from 100% in a totally opaque stock to just a few percent in transparent stock such as tracing paper; (2) ratio of the reflectance of a dry ink or coating film, ...

Contrast Ratio. Because of the different technologies, contrast ratio measurements differ from LCD to DLP and LCOS units.

Brightness Ratio, Contrast Ratio
The all-too-often awful truth about a subject or scene that has inappropriate or excessive Contrast. Meter reading procedure: Take two reflected-light readings: 1) the lightest significant area of the subject or ...

Contrast ratio is a measure of the difference between the brightest and darkest areas of the projected image. Higher contrasts bring out subtle color differences and darker blacks making images appear richer.

When preparing images for print, we must remember that the contrast ratio of the print will never be close to the extremes found in nature or near the range offered by a backlit monitor.

0 means the scanner is capable of reproducing a contrast ratio of 100:1, a dynamic range of 3.0 represents a contrast ratio of 1000:1.

In the result, you can see that the contrast ratio is somewhat better than in the previous shot, but at the expense of a somewhat unnatural quality of light, which is most evident in the eyes.

Like a high brightness setting, a high contrast ratio can cause problems for digital photography. Most prints have a contrast ratio of less than 500:1, while it is not uncommon for today's LCD monitors to have a contrast ratio of 1000:1 or higher.

Fill-in Flash is a flash photography technique in which the flash is used to add sufficient fill-lighting to a subject to even out the contrast ratio.

High key photography uses unnaturally bright lighting to blow out most or all harsh shadows in an image. High key methods were originally developed as a solution to screens that couldn't properly display high contrast ratios, ...

Colour Contrast Analyser is a Firefox extension that lists color combinations used in your web pages. It lays out the colors in a table that summarises the foreground color, background color, luminosity contrast ratio, ...

I’ll take separate readings for a key highlight and key shadow and check the contrast ratio. More readings can be taken if needed.

Moreover, the brightness of 700 nits, response time of 8 ms and dynamic contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1 ensure sharpness and vividness of images on the Samsung LCD monitor.

final output, there can be an extremely large difference in the size of the dynamic range that each device is capable capturing or reproducing. Dynamic range is commonly expressed in the number of f-stops that can be captured or the contrast ratio of ...

However, SLR is still popular in high-end and professional cameras because they have interchangeable lenses and far less shutter lag, allowing photographs to be timed more precisely. Also the pixel resolution, contrast ratio, refresh rate, ...

A D-SLR can record a dynamic range of up to 9 stops of light (each stop of light is a factor of 2, so 9 stops is a contrast ratio of 512:1 from brightest to darkest), ...
