Colour coupler
A colorless substance contained in colour film emulsions that, when exposed to chemical developing baths forms the colour dyes that make up part of the layers of processed colour films.

COUPLER-Chemical compound in color developer that can react with the oxidized developing agent in the sensitized material to form a dye color. CRITICAL FOCUS-That point of focus at which resolution is at its maximum.

Nearly all other color films have dye couplers incorporated into the three emulsion layers to ensure that the correct dye forms in the correct layer when all three are developed at the same time.

I used a coupler, female adapter, and a male adapter. I cut off the handle part of a magnifying lens and secured the magnifier in the female adapter. The coupler snugly fits the camera with a little cloth or other material.

In truth, color silver halide images are actually made out of three (or more) layers of black-and-white images that interact with color couplers to produce layers of color dye that when viewed together give the illusion of a full range of colors.
