Over development
Is a photographic term indicating that the amount of development recommended by the manufacturer has been exceeded.
A print should be exposed so it reaches the proper density and contrast only with full development; otherwise, the tone and appearance of the print will be below acceptable standards.
Development.
During development the developing agent supplies electrons to the latent image thus attracting and neutralising silver ions to produce metallic silver which will eventually form a visible image.
Development
1. The entire process by which exposed film or paper is treated with various chemicals to make an image that is visible and permanent.
2. Specifically, the step in which film or paper is immersed in developer.
-Development - process of converting exposed silver halides to a visible image.
Overdevelopment. Giving too long or too much agitation in the developer, or having too high a temperature, or developer too concentrated. This results in excessive density and exaggerated grain structure in the developed material.

Development changes the silver in the emulsion to metallic grains, the faster the film the larger the grains. Development controls contrast. Film speed Is not affected by development.
