Displays
Like most recent Nikon DSLRs the D3X has a high resolution VGA screen with a very fine pixel pitch which means you don't see any gaps between pixels.
A display for modes and features in the viewfinder or top-plate of many cameras. Most display the number of photos you have left along with the battery condition and exposure mode.
Oftentimes, a display print is viewed under lights that are much brighter than usual. When you view a print under normal room light, it looks fine; but when you view the same print under a brighter light, it may look flat and washed out.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
The little screen on the back of the digital camera is the LCD, or Liquid Crystal Display. Most LCDs are between 1.8 and 3.0' diagonally using modern TFT technology.

Public displays will mean working in a crowd, so it is always best to take the minimum kit. The essentials to pack are an SLR camera, single wide-angle lens, remote release, hotshoe spirit level and a torch.
If the display reads "1.0" (or any number other than "00") then you have the old stop-down metering style.
