Dye-sublimation printers produce photo-realistic continuous tone images that look like they came from a photo lab. Interestingly, this high-quality technology is also used in many small snapshot printers.

Our 200 ppi resolution rule of thumb was based on comparisons between digital prints produced by the best inkjet and dye-sublimation printers available at the time and prints from color-negative film made at a top minilab.

CMYK: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. The colors that are mixed to print pictures on paper. Most ink-jet and dye-sublimation printers use combinations of these colors to reproduce images.

ink-jet user too.

These prints are created from stored graphic formats such as JPEG, TIFF, and RAW. The types of printers used include inkjet printers, dye-sublimation printer, laser printers, and thermal printers.
