Electronic shutter

Electronic Shutter is a feature that automatically changes the speed at which light is captured in fields of video by the CCD image sensor.

-Electronic shutter - shutter system timed by electronic rather than mechanical means.
-Electrophotography - creation of images by alteration to the electrical properties of the sensitive material as a result of the action of light.

An electronic shutter also has the potential benefit of eliminating any vibration that might be caused by the first shutter actuation, ...

It has an electronic shutter with manual and auto exposure.
It takes 120 and 220 film, for 10 or 12 exposures on 120, and 20 or 24 on 220 film.

How an Electronic Shutter Works illustrates how an electronic shutter turns on the image sensor to begin recording the exposure and turns it off to end it. In between those two points the image builds up as light is captured by the sensor.

Electronic Shutter Electronic shuttering is the process of controlling the exposure period of the CCD by electronic methods (compared to conventional shuttering, which involves an electro- mechanical shutter system that opens, ...

Has TTL exposure, aperture priority and manual exposure, electronic shutter and two mechanical speeds of 1/60 and 1/125. Comes in .58, .72, and .85 viewfinder formats, each with different brightline framelines.

About thirty years ago, all the major makers put electronic shutters on the market. These had speeds up to thirty-two seconds.

Either mechanical and/or electronic shutters are possible. Mechanical systems can use a leaf (or iris) shutter or curtain shutter. In digital cameras a third alternative is also possible: the electronic shutter.

In theory digital cameras don't need an electro-mechanical shutter or mechanical shutter but most digital cameras have electro-mechanical shutter and few have electronic shutter alone.

You might be hearing a fake electronic shutter sound, because pocket-sized digital cameras use electronic shutters.

Digital cameras have both mechanical and electronic shutters, though the electronic shutter is more common.

Mechanical shutter up to 1/4,000 sec, electronic shutter up to 1/16,000 sec. Flash synch 1/60 (electronic) or 1/250 (mechanical).

Most digicams use a mechanical/electronic shutter; some use electronic only.

-Capacitor - device that builds and stores electrical charges. Used in electronic flash and some forms of electronic shutters.

A measure of how long a camera allows light to fall on the image sensor (expressed as a fraction of a second). Though some digital cameras have both electronic and mechanical shutters, inexpensive models will utilize an electronic shutter to turn off ...

They do this by jut opening the shutter up and using an 'electronic shutter' (sampling the sensor, i think) and being clever with flash timing. Maybe other manufacturers do, too. I know not all Nikon bodies will do this.

However, some cameras have a similar function with their electronic shutter releases, even though it isn?t called T mode. For example, Canon cameras which support the RC-1 infrared remote work like this in bulb mode.

This is the time the camera takes to open the shutter (either a physical or an electronic shutter), and prepare the sensor for the shot. It is a lot less time than the time needed to Autofocus, but on cheaper cameras is still noticeable.
