-Enlargement ratio - ratio denoting the amount of linear (not area) enlargement between a print and the negative from which it is made.
-Enlarger - apparatus for producing prints by projecting a negative or transparency on sensitive paper.
Image degradation would be neglectible, especially considering the enlargement ratios needed in LF. Others find that in LF, accidental damage is unlikely. They are definitively useful at high altitudes to remove excess UV.

By adjusting the ratio of distance from film to lens to the distance from lens to paper, various degrees of enlargement may be obtained, with the physical enlargement ratio limited only by the structure of the enlarger and the size of the paper.
