A dissolving away selected areas of a surface while shielding the other portions with a resistant. The process is used as a creative drawing medium as well as for making half tone plates on copper or zinc.

etching
(1) the process of forming a design or drawing on a metal or plastic plate; (2) a design or picture etched on a plate or a print made from an etched plate.

-Brometching - obsolete, special method of producing a bromide print. The result acquired the texture of its support and appeared similar to an etching.

Stretching and compression of the tonal levels is an issue with the Screen and Multiply Blend modes. Figures 12 and 13 illustrate the tonal stretching and compression for an image where the Screen Blend mode was used to lighten the shadows.

Photo etching is a process by which an engraving is made of a printed photograph. Like other art forms, to become successful at photo etching, you must be willing to practice the craft.

When "stretching" the above histogram via a Levels or Curves adjustment, the contrast of the image improves, but since the tones are redistributed over a wider tonal range, some tones are missing, as indicated in this "combed" histogram.

Stretching Applying a mathematical transfer function to the pixel values in an array so that they are changed to better portray the image in terms of relative brightness levels. Often used synonymously with scaling.

Positives, resist exposure, copperplate etching and printing were all done in my workshop in Kamakura Japan.

It prevents the preservative from etching the silver grains 3. It reduces image contrast 4. It prevents the solution from oxidizing 8-12. Which of the following developer ingredients is used to prevent chemical fog? 1. Metol 2. Hydroquinone 3.

Note that many common zoom lenses claim to have macro capabilities but in reality they're stretching the truth somewhat as you'll see.

Alas, your suggestion doesn't make good ergonomic sense, as it would require stretching the forefinger away from the hand. That would lead to greater muscle tension and greater shake.

Photoelectrochemical Etching. -
When a black-and-white image is projected onto a polished silicon wafer serving as an electrode in a solution of hydrofluoric acid, the image is transferred to the silicon surface.

And those points are: stretching the perspective, making the object that closer to the lens look much bigger (in relation to all other objects), ...

In the mid-1920s, Adams experimented with soft-focus, etching, bromoil, and other techniques of the pictorial photographers, ...

For the most part, we will still have a straight line stretching from Output values 0 to 255 (bottom to top), much as we did before we adjusted anything. However, this revised line (curve) will have a steeper slope than did the original.

Along with the foreground to background apparent distance stretching mentioned in the paragraph above objects in the foreground will seem to be larger than normal and objects in the background will seem to be smaller than normal.

In spring the fields stretching from Leiden to Haarlem are awash in color, filled with millions of blooming tulips and other flowers. You can tour the region by car or bike.

By stretching the top and squeezing the bottom I had an image that was fatter on the top and skinnier on the bottom. I had to clone some of the bottom back into the blank areas that were createdby the squeeze.

You can also use shrinking sizes to imply distance by having objects of similar size stretching into the distance.

Digital zoom picks up where optical zoom leaves off, by stretching your camera's pixels in order to make an image look bigger. The downside to digital zoom is that the farther you zoom in, the blockier and more distorted your image becomes.

If it's stretching your budget, get the least expensive used housing & body you can find, any strobe, and 1 good lens (see #2, #3, and #4 below). Use several credit cards if needed.

After the photographer was done sketching the image, he would put a piece of light-sensitive paper over it and leave it in the sun where the image would be transferred onto the paper. A number of prints could be made using the same piece of glass.

Stretching can be caused by techniques such as levels and curves in Photoshop, or by converting an image from one color space into another as part of color management.

Of course, an image processor can make the smaller megapixel cameras do larger prints by stretching the image a bit. This is a process called "interpolation," which simply means adding extra dots of light (pixels) to make the image larger.

This time the defishing results in even greater relative stretching in the horizontal direction and there is a significant quality loss towards the edges of the frame.

DZ is just stretching a portion of an image captured by the camera's glass (or optical) lens.

To call it a rangefinder is stretching it.Sure, it is not an slr.But somehow when I am told rangefinder I picture split line triangulation metering a la Leica and not infrared rangefinding even for the"manual" focus.

Below are three more photos of the same building, in the shot on the right I have corrected the verticals in Photoshop by stretching out the top of the picture.

Last time around, we showed how backlighting can define the shape of a portrait subject -or any opaque object-by etching a bright white highlight, called a rimlight, around its outer edges.

Think of distant mountains, cornfields stretching on to infinity, and the like. As soon as your background starts to look like your subject, it more or less becomes the subject of the photo.

When the plate is inked up ink will be pushed into the bitten lines or areas and this is what will create the image in reverse directly onto the paper when rolled thorough the press. Processes include etching, engraving, mezzotint, drypoint, ...

Gumoil
A recently discovered process which has the look and feel of some of the ancient processes. In combination with unpigmented gum, etching bleach and oil pigments, it is possible to build monochrome or polychromatic images.

By moving in close with a 24mm or 28mm lens you can make even small features dominate the whole shot, and exaggerate perspective to create powerful compositions with the foreground looming large and the rest of the scene stretching off into the ...

Rectilinear lenses aren't necessarily correct - a wide-angle lens has extreme distortion and stretching towards the edges to make the lines straight.

For example, if you adjust contrast by stretching the colours in a small range out to a larger range (as in Levels) then using 16-bit with ProPhoto gives you more information to stretch out, and therefore better quality.

Slow Motion (video and film)
The stretching of real time for technical or lyrical reasons. See: Frame Rate.

High horizon. When the horizon is placed on the top third of the photograph, the focus of the photograph is on the land and creates a sense of distance. A high horizon will also give you the feel of the landscape stretching out in front of you.

You’ll be surprised at just how good you’ll feel by stretching your fortitude boundary past your comfort level while still practicing some restraint.

It’s similar to the JPEG argument, if I got it right (or close) in camera 8 bit is fine, if I’m going to do a lot of tone and color stretching I prefer to work in 16 bit mode.

To make the most of this scenario, shoot the structure from its most attractive side, using a low, wide-angled vantage point on the beach, with the camera on a tripod. Frame the shot so the pier makes a diagonal, stretching right across the picture ...
