Factoring in the Digital Crop Factor
Back in the good old days of film, everything seemed so simple. Focal length was focal length and lenses produced the field of view we were accustomed to. But digital changed things.

Factors to Consider when Choosing a Digital SLR Camera

FACTORS THAT AFFECT EXPOSURE You must consider four major factors that affect exposure when you are taking photographs.

CROP FACTOR
Techniques Glossary CROP FACTOR
Describes how much an imaging sensor has been cropped in relation to its full-frame equivalent. It always describes how many times larger the full-frame is in relation to the cropped sensor.

Flash factor
A number which provides a guide to correct exposure when using flash. See also Guide number.

Crop factor explained at its best. Thank you
I didn't like the crop factor explanation too much. Sorry! Needs more illustrations, I think.
BTW, I already know what crop factor is. but if I didn't, I would feel this article is incomplete.

Just remember the crop factor in your lens buying adventure. A wide-angle lens will behave like a normal lens when used on a camera with crop factor.

focal length multiplier noun
a multiplicative factor that relates the focal length of a camera to the focal length of a 35mm camera that produces the same field of view
HFOV noun
horizontal field of view, usually expressed in degrees ...

Factors Affecting Dynamic Range
There are a number of factors that affect dynamic range.
Pixel Size: As covered previously, pixel size affects dynamic range. Smaller pixels tend to have smaller dynamic ranges.

CROP FACTOR SENSORS AND LENS PERFORMANCE
The crop factor, FOV and perspective rules follow each camera through it's entire range of photographic capabilities from wide angle to telephoto. If you want the equivalent of 24mm on a 1.

Zoom factor
Ratio between the largest and smallest focal length. Indicates as well the maximum enlarge factor. So has a zoomobjective with a focal length from f.i.

Focus Factors
The dome port offers no special optical properties above water, functioning essentially as a clear window. This means that a subject above water, 10 feet away, will be in sharp focus when the lens's distance scale is set to 10 feet.

Other factors to keep in mind when buying a camera tripod:
Hooking up the camera - consider the way your camera will connect to the tripod. There are two kinds of hook ups - screw on, and snap on.

Fill Factor: Gaps between pixels decrease the light-gathering ability of a sensor. Microlenses fill in those voids to increase coverage and further improve signal.

FLASH FACTOR - Also known as " Guide number," a number which serves as a guide to proper exposure when using flash. The number is based on a flash unit's light output and the film speed.

Flash factor. See Guide number.
Flash, fill. Flash used to fill shadows even when there is enough light to otherwise take the photograph.

power factor
cosine of the angle between the voltage applied and the current resulting.
powdered adhesive
a thermoplastic bonding agent primarily used to aid a plastisol transfer to adhere more efficiently to nylon or polyester substates.

Filter Factor - This is the amount of light the filter blocks out.
Filters - Can be plastic or glass attachments for the lens of the cameras. The effect the filter achieves differs depending on the filter used.

Other Factors Read the specifications carefully before buying your scanner. As mentioned earlier, enhanced or interpolated dpi can be misleading.

Filter Factor
The Exposure correction needed to compensate for light losses due to a filter. Through-the-Lens Meter-ing automatically compensates for most filters.

Factor One: If you don't use flash, you usually won't get red-eye.
Factor Two: Factor Two: If the pupils aren't wide open, you won't get red-eye. If you examine your ruined red-eye pictures closely, you'll probably find they were taken indoors.

Factors that affect the total exposure of a photograph include the scene luminance, the aperture size (f-number), and the exposure time (shutter speed); photographers can trade off shutter speed and aperture by using units of stops.

Factors to be considered when selecting an appropriate digital camera include:
1. Resolution
2. Memory and compression ...

Factoring in scenic moments carries a risk. If Graham has held back to incorporate a vista in his shot with the pack of cyclists (the peloton) passing by, there’s no guarantee he’ll get back in front, ...

Factor that determines the quality of the image a monitor or other output device can display. Higher frequency monitors update the screen faster and theoretically can display more information in a given amount of time.

The factors affecting depth of field are aperture setting, distance from the subject, and focal length of the lens.

Key factors that come into play enabling you to meet this challenge are proper use of depth of field, lighting, and composition.

Many factors influence sharp photographs. Here are some tips for getting sharp photographs: ...

Crop Factor
(also:
Focal Length Multiplier
35mm Equivalent)
Not to be confused with "Crop" of a picture, these terms are exclusively used in the context of relating focal length to field of view (FOV), ...

Cost factor is also always of concern for consumers who tend to think that spending $1000 on an SLR kit is a lot of money.

Three factors play a hand in determining or affecting depth of field: the lens aperture (how open the lens is), the length of lens being used and the object's size (the later includes the distance the object is away from the photographer).

Another factor influencing action photography is the shutter speed of your camera. If your camera allows a very fast shutter speed (say up to 1/8000 of a second), you can easily capture fast motion.

Another factor in quality here is that small sensors tend to be of a different type than large sensors.

Another factor comes into play. Both Canon and Nikon build expensive pro cameras, midrange cameras for advanced amateurs and consumer cameras.

The key factor which usually marks a photo book out from all the others with which it shares a shelf is the luxury quality of the materials used.

The crop factor isn't a major issue for most users, but it does have important consequences for some.

Exposure factor:
A figure by which the exposure indicated for an average subject and/or processing should be multiplied to allow for non-average conditions. Usually applied to filters, occasionally to lighting, processing etc.

These same factors can also emphasize depth, as objects become more obscured with distance until detail disappears, creating a suggestion of the infinite. The wetness of falling snow can intensify color, especially in rock.

3. Another factor is the rate of your loan, many of which are currently at all-time lows. A better financial decision may be to eliminate all high-interest-rate debt first, such as credit cards, before paying more towards your mortgage.

Cropping factor
Many digital SLRs use an image sensor that is smaller than 35mm film. If you attach a lens to one of these cameras, its 35mm equivalency will be multiplied by the cropping factor-a manufacturer's specification.

Bellows factor
The exposure compensation necessary when focusing on close subjects, which becomes necessary when the subject is closer than ten times the focal length of the lens.

A few other factors to consider when refining your compositions:
- Let the lines in your composition decide if the scene should be shot horizontally or vertically.

The foremost factor distinguishing the Nikon FX format from other image sensors is the larger pixel size, which allows it to collect more light. The D3 features 12.1 effective megapixels, with a pixel size of 8.45 x 8.45µm - 2.

All of these factors serve to illuminate the subject and clarify the photographer's intentions.

An important factor in print quality is the number of pixels per inch (ppi) used to make the print. The more pixels per inch, the finer the detail in the print will be and the sharper it will look.

An additional factor too look out for is models who are noticeable holding their breath. This may not be apparent during the shoot but it will defiantly be noticeable in post production.

As well as the factors we have looked at, which are all indicated on the box the film comes in, there are other aspects of film you may want to consider.
Latitude.

There are many factors that go into creating a portrait or fashion shot, including the basic concept behind the shot, the characteristics of your subject, the scene, the camera gear and settings, and last but not least, the lighting strategy.

Magnification Factor
If you use a digital camera with a less than full-frame sensor, to calculate the effective focal length of your wide angle lens you will have to multiply the focal length by 1.5x for Nikon, 1.

The illustration shows the image area for a 200mm lens used with a 35mm SLR, a Pentax *ist Ds and an Olympus E-300. The image is cropped by a (Crop) Factor of 1.5 and 2.0 respectively.
