Fading
The loss of or change of colour density, generally accelerated by exposure to sunlight.
Falloff
Decrease in the intensity of light as it spreads out from the source.

(for your monitor) is usually 72 dpi so there is no point in having large files if they will only ever be displayed on a computer screen.
In fading light try using slower shutter speeds to blur subject movement. You could even add a burst of rear-curtain flash to record a sharp ghost image of your subject over the top of the blur.

Dark fading occurs regardless of the procedures taken to preserve a photograph and is unavoidable. It is instigated by temperature and RH.
Staving Off Fading
Before you embark on a storage project, you ought to read The Preservation and Care of Color Photographs. Briefly, slides and negatives will fade. They will fade faster if they are hot and/or humid.
Fading off the sides of a picture into plain white or black instead of having abrupt edges. Also unintentional loss of brightness at the edge of the image. Wide angle lenses are particularly susceptible.

This fading may not have been equal overall. That can create problems in printing. Generally, slide duplicates vary widely in quality and do not make high-quality color prints.
Pick the 'linear' gradient tool from the gradient tool property bar selections (rectangular box fading from light to dark). In the gradient tool's properties bar set mode for 'normal' and 'opacity' between 20 and 40%.
