The filmstrip at the bottom of the screen shows the photos in the select folder, a collection, a quick collection, or a keyword set and they remain displayed when you change modules.
In the Filmstrip panel, you'll see all files in the currently selected source. When you hover over an image thumbnail you get live preview in the Navigator panel.
I much prefer the Filmstrip Focus mode - this changes the way Bridge looks and functions. I find it makes it much easier to find files and preview them full-size before I open in them in Adobe RAW or Photoshop.
