Fixed focus lens
A low cost lens that doesnt have a focusing ring found in basic cameras. The lens is set to a distance of around three meters and relies on the depth of field to bring everything from about one and a half meters to infinity.

A low-cost lens that doesn't have a focusing ring. Found in very basic cameras.

fixed focus digital cameras: A fixed focus lens has no optical zoom, although it may have digital zoom capabilities. Fixed focus digital cameras tend to be less expensive than cameras with better lens capabilities.

Fixed focus is found on the least expensive cameras, almost all camera phones, and one-time-use cameras. It is sometimes called focus-free for marketing purposes, a euphemism one reviewer suggests they change to unfocusable.

Fixed Focus Refers to a lens in which the focus is fixed at the time of manufacture and is not adjustable. These lenses are most often used in single-use cameras. They are also found in phone cameras and webcams.

FIXED FOCUS - Refers to a lens, the focus of which cannot be changed.

Fixed Focus: The camera's focus is pre-set to a distance at which most subjects or objects will be in focus from near to far. Not as precise as autofocus.

Fixed focus cameras do not have autofocus systems. The focus and aperture have been set so that everything within a certain distance is captured clearly.

Fixed-Focus Lens
A lens that has been focused in a fixed position by the manufacturer. The user does not have to adjust the focus of this lens, applies on most entry or disposable cameras.

-Fixed focus - lens camera system that has no method of focusing on a fixed point, usually at the hyperfocal distance.
-Fixer - chemical solution used for fixation.

Fixed Focus Lens
Some cheap cameras have lenses which are fixed at one focal point (they are focused at one distance and you can't change it). They rely on Depth Of Field to achieve hopefully-acceptable sharpness. I would avoid these cameras.

A factory-set, non-adjustable camera lens set for a fixed subject distance.

The camera is fixed focus at 40' (12m). I have a magnetic close-up lens that focuses the camera to 10' for interiors. Different close-up lenses are available to focus at different distances.

In the faster (fixed focus) mode the live preview disappears (you do get instant reviews as the pictures are taken) - in the slower continuous AF mode the live preview is visible.

To use the term PRIME as so many photographer do is incorrect and should be called what it is "FIXED FOCUS LENS". Calling your lenses prime lenses could be the most confusing term out there today.

Some cameras feature a lens with "fixed focus." This means that the lens was designed to be in focus all the time. This range is usually from about ten feet to infinity. Fixed focus lenses are usually found in cameras in the lower price ranges.

The simplest cameras have fixed focus and use a small aperture and wide-angle lens to ensure that everything within a certain range of distance from the lens, usually around 3 metres (10 ft) to infinity, is in reasonable focus.

FIXED FOCUS-The term applied to optical instruments and photographic equipment that are not provided with a means for focusing. FIXER-A solution used to remove undeveloped silver halides from photosensitized emulsions.

Zoom lens is more complex than fixed focus lens and more expensive and difficult to design and build.

Any camera without varifocal option has a fixed focus lens. Meaning, the user cannot manipulate the field of view, everything in the picture beyond a few inches will be clear and in focus.

This is typically a fixed focus lens with a focal length of 50mm, 80mm or up to perhaps 110mm.

The point and shoot cameras have a fixed focus and they also use a small aperture and the wide angle lens to capture everything within a certain distance like within 10 feet.

Some photographers like to mess around with the Holga medium format (120) film camera. They cost $20-50, are fixed focus or zone focus, have at most 2 f-stops, fixed shutter speed, and are noted for their distortion & vignetting.

Given the simple "fixed focus" the change in light path seems to have no (minimal effect). So, an IR dedicated camera for £1 - and it works. Best for landscapes and the camera does this task well.

Most have minimal viewfinders, fixed exposure and fixed focus. The current most basic of this type is the single-use cameras, which are the same idea as the original consumer camera, the Kodak Brownie.
