A light proof cowl used on TLR and most roll film SLR cameras to prevent extraneous light falling on the focusing screen.

FOCUSING HOOD - A cowl around focusing screens that shields the screen from light other than the light from the scene being photographed..
FOCUSING MAGNIFIER - A simple magnifying lens that enlarges the image on a focusing screen.
The AII has a metal 'flip up' focusing hood with leather baffles. The focusing hood assembly is hinged and can be flipped out of the way or easily removed if you want to use a regular dark cloth for focusing.
