Focusing ring The ring used to adjust the lens so that the subject appears sharp on the film or CCD.
Focusing ring Techniques Glossary Focusing ring The ring used to adjust the lens so that the subject appears sharp on the film or CCD.
Focusing ring. The band on the camera lens that, when turned, moves the lens in relation to the film plane, focusing the camera for specific distances. Frame. 1. A single image in a roll f film. 2. The edges of an image.
The focusing ring. This will be a wider ring located near the front of the lens.
Aperture Ring: The ring located on the outside of the lens, usually behind the focusing ring. It controls the size of the aperture opening.
To determine the flash-to-subject distance for on-camera flash, focus on the subject and read the distance directly from the focusing ring on the camera.
This simple technique is achieved by turning the focusing ring on your lens and using a wide aperture. The highlights begin to soften and if they are brightly colored, they begin to spread.
The Schneider seems a little more durable (all metal), while the Peak has a plastic focusing ring. The Peak optics are great (4 elements, 2 groups, coated). The Peak has a clear skirt; Schneider has black skirt.
one of the hardest things to get accustomed to when using a vintage lens is the lack of autofocus, particularly for those who began photography during the digital era and have never experienced the tactile nature of twisting a lens focusing ring.
Simply focus on the object, then rotate the focusing ring such that the infinity now lies at the f/22 mark on the focusing window.
This direct relationship allows the focusing ring's movement to be stopped at either end of the focus travel which, in turn, has allowed Olympus to add proper distance and depth-of-field scales to the lens.
Use your DOF scale. Set the focusing ring's infinity mark (sideways 8) opposite of the selected aperture mark on the depth-of-field scale. The depth of field will then run from half the focused distance to infinity. 5 ...
For one thing, unlike those smaller formats' sleek lenses with nearly silent autofocus or wonderfully tactile knurled focusing rings, the large format lens has no focusing apparatus at all.
-Focusing scale - scale of distances marked on a lens focusing ring. -Focusing screen - ground glass screen fixed to the camera at the image-forming plane, enabling the image to be viewed and focused.
One touch zoom lenses allow the photographer to adjust the focal length by pushing or pulling the focusing ring. Other zoom lenses have a separate zoom control ring that is turned to adjust the focal length.
Focusing mode on some AF-Nikkor lenses allowing for switching from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time by simply turning the focusing ring on the lens. Nikonians Photo Glossary ...
SCALE - (1) The relative size of an object. (2) A set of marks to indicate distances at which a lens is focused, often engraved near the focusing ring on a lens.
There are two types of optical rangefinder: a coupled rangefinder has a linkage to the distance ring of the lens and lets you focus on a subject directly with the lens's focusing ring, ...
Personally I don't think there is too much difference between the two, the trick is to be proficient with what you have, and it helps immensely to know automatically which way to turn focusing rings to get the right results.
with no change in the lens' physical length, permitting more compact, lightweight construction and a closer minimum focusing distance for telephoto lenses. Additional benefits include faster focusing and a reduced diameter of the focusing ring due to ...
It is a good idea to evaluate the darkness of the shadows falling onto your subject to see if fill flash will save some detail in those areas. To do this, throw your entire scene out-of-focus using the focusing ring on your lens.
As a result, I prefer manual focusing over auto-focusing when shooting close-ups, and if I'm handholding my camera, I often find it easier to move the camera back and forth instead of rotating the lens-focusing ring.
