Gamut
A Gamut refers to the complete spectrum of colors that a given color system can produce.

There are two main types of colour profile featuring the RGB gamut. One is AdobeRGB the other is sRGB. sRGB is used on the web by browsers and many cheaper digital cameras.

Gamut
The gamut is the set of possible colors within a color system. No one system can reproduce all possible colors in the spectrum. Thus, it is not possible to create every color in the spectrum with either additive or subtractive colors.

gamut compression
editing an image to reduce the color gamut so that the image can be displayed or output within the limits of a particular device.
gamut mapping
plotting the color of an image into the CIE color space.

Gamut - Also called color gamut or color space. Complete subset of colors.
Gels - Plastic that can be put in front of a light for colored lighting effects.

Gamut
The gamut of a color system is the range of colors that can be displayed or printed. The spectrum of colors that can be viewed by the human eye is wider than any method of reproducing color.

GAMUT - is the colour range that different types of output device or ink sets can process and create certain colours in that particular range.

Gamut
The total range of colours reproduced by a device such as a digital camera, scanner or printer.

Gamut - The range of colors that can be captured or displayed by a device.

Gamut. This is the range of colours that are available in an image or output process. Gamut is generally used in describing the capabilities of a printer to reproduce colours accurately and vibrantly.

Gamut. The range of viewable and printable colors for a particular color model, such as RGB (red/green/blue; used for monitors) or CMYK (cyan/ magenta/yellow/black; used for printing).

Gamut: Every color combination that is possible to produce with a given set of colorants on a given device or system.

Gamut Mapping
The plotting of an image colour gamut into the CIE colour space.

Color Gamut
One reason it's a good idea to edit in a color space with a larger gamut than your target space is that your color adjustments will have greater fidelity.

Gamut
No device can faithfully reproduce the entire range of colours; those it can reproduce are its colour gamut. An inkjet printer which produces a good range of bright colours may be said to have a wide gamut.

Gamut
GIFâ"˘ stands for Graphics Interchange Format. It is a file format with good, lossless compression for images with low color depth (up to 256 different colors per image).

COLOR GAMUT: The range of colors within a calibrated color space. Some color spaces are 'wider' than others in that they contain more variations of colors.

A wide gamut of equipment is often needed in nature photography. For wildlife, a long telephoto lens is almost essential. For close-ups of the insect world, macro lenses which will give one-to-one magnification and show nature in its infinite detail.

sRGB's gamut plotted against the larger CIE LAB.
CMYK uses cyan, magenta, yellow (and black) to form all other colors.

A wide-gamut monitor gives photos a vibrancy and clarity not seen on standard-gamut displays. If you're spending big bucks for a top-of-the-line monitor, consider looking for a wide-gamut display.

A color gamut is described by an ICC Profile which is a small file that describe the color space of an image or imaging device. In many image file formats, the profile for the image's color space can be embedded in the file.

Dynamic range, gamut and bit-depth are often confused. Though related, they're all different. Dynamic range refers to a total range of luminosity values. Gamut refers to a total color capacity, including saturation.

Display out-of-gamut colors option
Indicates areas of the image which are out of the gamut range of the current color space. Print
Print the current image either cropped to fit the printable area or with borders.

These are color gamut, color space, working space, and profile. Once we understand what they mean and how they relate to each other, we'll look at what your computer does with them.

Cyan, magenta and yellow pigments serve as filters, subtracting varying degrees of red, green and blue from white light to produce a selective gamut of spectral colours.

Dye prints typically have strong colors and wide gamuts and thus product attractive prints, but they typically have far lower permanence than pigment prints and are thus not typically used for fine art printing.

Once this is done, any background either falls within or outside the recordable gamut. But it does not affect the picture.

The term gamut is used to describe the universe of colors a given device or other range of colors can produce or describe. A better monitor for instance probably has a wider gamut than a cheaper one does.

The feelings divers get from shipwrecks run the gamut from anticipation to nostalgia and downright awe. So it’s no wonder a hearty diving business blooms anywhere you can find a good selection of diveable ships.

Colour reproduction (gamut) is dependent on the type and quality of film or sensor used and the quality of the optical system and film processing.

Each device has a different color gamut that it can represent, and even within that gamut each device has slightly different characteristics in terms of how it displays those colors.

The HyperDrive Album sports a brilliant high resolution widescreen VGA (800 x 480 pixels) LCD screen capable of a wide color gamut of 16 million colors to display every photo with amazing clarity and color accuracy.

Raw files require additional processing by a raw converter in a wide-gamut colorspace before conversion to format where they are ready to be used with a bitmap image editor or printed.

These out of gamut colors will either be clipped or altered to fit in the smaller color space (which may cause quantization error).

In the last five years, projectors evolved from low-resolution, dim displays with a truncated color gamut to bright units capable of showing the rich colors and vivid details of your best images.

The 2200 uses Epson's Ultrachrome inkset to print digital photos, which contain pigments that have a wider color gamut than the earlier Archival inks on the 2000P. The trade-off is a bit less longevity but I think the trade-off is well worthwhile.

or captures color has its own way of reproducing all the colors in the visible spectrum, which is known as its color space. The most common color spaces in digital photography are Adobe RGB 1998 and Adobe sRGB. The former has a broader color gamut ...

The RGB working space created by Adobe Systems, incorporated that provides a fairly large gamut of colors and is well-suited for documents that will be converted to CMYK ... Generally speaking this is the setting recommended by most photographers.

As I am frequently capturing marine light in motion, which is a very rapidly changing shooting environment, I need to be able to adjust the gamut of contrast- sunlight caught on a swell top can blow out an otters furry face, etc.

Cool tones tend to emit feelings of tranquility and calmness while warm tones run the gamut from anger to warmth depending on their saturation. Different cultures view color in different ways so the above is not universal.

While you can get away with this for web display or even projection, you may find that the resulting print is a world away from the vivid image on your display. Use your editing application's Gamut Warning (in Photoshop, under View) to show colours ...

Smaller droplet sizes, in some cases as tiny as 3 picoliters (i.e., 3 trillionths of a liter!) allow the printer to place more dots next to each other, creating smoother tonal gradations, finer detail in highlight areas, and wider color gamuts.

I have done everything from auto mechanics to wood working and my writing runs the gamut as well. Having worked in the electrical trades for over forty years, my work for hire involves doing technical manuals for equipment manufacturers.
