GOST (Russian Ð"ОСТ) is an abbreviation of "GOsudarstvennyi STandard", which is Russian for "Government Standard". In photography, GOST refers to arithmetic film speed ratings used in the former Soviet Union, similar to ASA.
GOST - GOST is a standardization system developed by the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Certification. Its coding system for film speeds, although similar to the ISO system, uses different numbers.

GOST (Russian: Ð"ОСТ) is a pre-1987 arithmetic standard used in the former Eastern Bloc. It was almost, but not quite, identical to the ASA standard. After 1987 the GOST scale was aligned to the ISO scale.
