Graduated Neutral Density is my favorite category of filter. As I've said before, I'm not a big filter user, by my Grad ND's go everywhere with me. The idea with GND's is that one end is clear and the other is neutral density.
Graduated neutral density filters do not work well when the division between the light and dark areas is not fairly straight. A scene of the ocean and sky would work well with a graduated neutral density filter due to the straight line of the horizon.

Graduated Filter, Grad
A filter with modulated-color or gray areas which can be oriented in front of the camera to control Contrast or add color to part of a scene. Also see: Attenuator.

3 - Graduated Neutral Density Filters
Grad ND filters are used when the dynamic range of a scene exceeds the capabilities of the camera (film or digital) to record detail in both the brightest and darkest part of the scene.

To use graduated filters takes a little care. You must remember to take your camera meter reading off the land before you install the grey grad. That way the land will expose as required and the filter will not effect the reading.
Colored graduated split-field density filters add a tinge of color to the sky-you often see this effect in magazine advertisements.

I recently graduated college and I hope to start freelancing along with a friend of mine. This app looks really useful. I love to draw and design. but I hate the technical mumbo jumbo that comes along with the job. I'll definitely give this a shot.
