Halogens
A collective term for the elements chlorine, bromine and iodine, which are combined with silver to produce the light sensitive crystals used as the basis for photographic emulsions.

Halogens -a group of chemical elements. In photography, three of these, bromine, chlorine and iodine are used with silver to produce light sensitive material.

A silver halide is one of the compounds formed between silver and one of the halogens - silver bromide (AgBr), chloride (AgCl), iodide (AgI), and two forms of silver fluorides.
