Hand camera is an old term for a camera that can be held in hands during exposure. Such a camera must be so light and compact that it can be operated when holding it in hands. Thus it needs a shutter with selectable speed of 1/20 sec.

During the 1880's, development of hand cameras and increased film speeds made the shutter much more important than before. Increased importance created a period of very rapid development.

Consider the benefits and price difference between purchasing a second-hand camera and a new camera and do a cost-benefit analysis. Hong Kong has several camera shops specializing in used photographic equipment.

A small hand camera that requires me to use reading glasses, especially because I don't need glasses otherwise, is not attractive.

Cameras can be quite expensive, so it makes sense to save on their purchase if you can. Purchasing second hand cameras online can give you some great cash savings, but you need to be wary of a few things.
Where online can you purchase?

The resulting images are then swapped (i.e. the photo taken by the left-hand camera is placed to the right-hand side of the other image) before viewing.

They know how to safely hand cameras to photographers once they are in the water, and they know where to store the cameras on the chase boat so they ride safely.
