This is hand held while walking! You can see the clouds in the night sky. This is B&H's gigantomongeous retail store on 9th Ave.

Moonrise, Midtown. Hand-held while walking - fast - in a creepy neighborhood! ...

Backlighting mode is used to balance exposure when shooting a subject against a bright background.

Camera Shake
Hand held shots taken in low light or with a long telephoto zoom can result in blurred images. Some digital cameras offer image stabilization systems to counter act the effects of camera shake.

Cause: Camera hand held, shutter speed too low . Solution: Use a tripod and faster shutter speed. Use a shutter speed which is closest to your lens focal length. Example, 1/250 sec. with a 200mm lens.

Portrait with Hand Held Strobe
When I felt I’d gotten enough good frames from that setup, we took a break to get warm and and then set out to grab a quick portrait before we lost all the light.

The camera can be on a separate tripod or attached to the telescope with a bracket or attached with a threaded adapter or even hand held. It is a great method to use for photographing the moon and planets. Ah Abbreviation for "ampere-hour".

Both systems are quite effective and can stabilize an image to the extent that you can photograph hand held at shutter speeds 2-3 stops slower than you could without stabilization.

6 X focal length as your minimum hand held shutter speed with a 1.6 crop factored camera (1/400 sec for your 250mm lens). The reasoning given for theory is that the 1.

The focal length also matters when you shoot hand held. With 1/40s on the Canon Rebel, you should not use a focal length longer than 40/(crop factor) = 40/1.6 = 25mm.

However you need a hand held incident lightmeter, and you also need to measure the light actually in the scene; a bit difficult if you're taking a photo of Mt Cook! ...

For hand held shots, figure about 1/125" second to help eliminate camera shake. Most sources recommend a slower shutter speed such as 1/30 of a second as minimum. Try different shutter speeds as an experiment.

A remote switch is a device that allows a photographer to release the shutter by using a hand held device, without the photographer's hand directly touching the camera. This device triggers the camera shutter by mechanical or electrical means.

If you use a hand held light meter like the Sekonic L-758, you can use it on Ambient mode and take a light reading with the white dome on the meter pointing at the lens.

INCIDENT LIGHT METER - An exposure meter (generally hand held as opposed to a reflective meter that is built into a camera) that reads the amount of incident light.

Hand held meters are also available to use in addition to the camera's meter. The hand held meters offer more features and greater accuracy.

For instance, if you’re shooting a 200mm lens hand held, the slowest shutter speed you should use to help guarantee you get a sharp image is 1/250. If you’re using a 28mm lens, 1/30 should do the trick.

This means the first thing you will need is a good tripod no way to do this hand held. There is an option in the "Merge to HDR" dialog that will attempt to automatically align the source images, but you don't want to rely on it.

As a rough guide an average person can hand held a 500mm (35mm Equivalent Focal Length) lens at 1/500 second shutter speed; a 100mm lens at 1/100 second and a 50mm lens at 1/50second.

This is done by establishing the light level with either a hand held light meter or one built into the camera. These devices measure the amount of available light and give a reading which is a combination of shutter speed and aperture.

I can shoot at 1/10 hand held and sometimes 1/8. But I have years and years of practice and I don't even have to think about it any more. Not trying to brag on myself.

If you find yourself near a running creek or waterfall with your camera hand held and no tripod available, then a shutter speed of 0.25 sec (1/4) is slow enough to blur the water, yet still fast enough to mininize possible camera shake.

6L, hand held in low light. The ISO setting on the 10D was ISO 3200. The shutter speed was 1/30s with the 75-300 wide open at 300mm (f5.6) and 1/80s with the 300/4L wide open (f4), so the "L" prime had a 1.3 stop advantage.

Other uses, such as hand held press camera work, call for lenses with smaller image circles. Lenses with extra large image circles and large maximum f/stops may be larger, heavier, and/or more expensive than you need.

Although this is possible hand held, the best way to shoot panoramas is to shoot in upright format, take lots of pictures that overlap and use a tripod that has been carefully adjusted to be level with the ground.

Light meters can be hand held or integrated into your camera. The most common light meters are integrated into cameras. They tell the camera whether or not there is enough light with the current shutter/aperture settings.

Whatever the light dictates he photographs and shoots hand held in RAW. Normally he uses ISO 200 or 400 and as long as he gets the main subject in focus, he is happy ...

You simply won't be able to shoot hand held. A standard tripod may not work just inches off the ground, but some are made with legs that spread at extreme angles, so you can place your camera in the optimum position.

Cameras may be hand held or mounted, and photographs may be taken by a photographer, triggered remotely or triggered automatically.

Yes I also shoot with a Sony A550 asd it does a pretty good job of hand held HDR. More time at camera. Less time at computer. Good post though David..nice work.

I would have done this with my trusty 4 x 5 camera and made six shots, each one increasing the exposure by a full stop as my initial reading would have been done with a hand held light meter and a rough two stops would have been added to that ...

Fast and sharp, just like the prior 80-200f/2.8 it is a winner all around. The AF is very smooth and the lens handles very well hand held. The Canon equivalent is also a 70-200f/2.8 USM L lens with IS, but it is slightly more expensive.

Films with an ISO of 400 or higher are only needed when light is limited or long lenses are being hand held. Kodak is promoting it's Max film which has an ISO of 800. From my experience with this film, color saturation seems to be compromised.
