Hide Awkwardly-Proportioned Content
Often times we'll run large block areas for our websites containing content jammed into smaller places. This is true for many sidebar widgets and footers on most websites.

Hide image allows you to remove selected images from the normal image review interface, and place them in the Hide Image menu, where they are protected from deletion (but not from formatting).

Hide out-of-focus information in the layer on top and reveal in-focus information in the layer below. Target the top layer. Add a layer mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All or Hide All).

To hide the power cord, you could drill a hole though the background and run it through that hole and out the rear of the setup. If you are good with Photoshop, you could also remove it with that program.

Do not make pictures that hide detail or distort the scene. Remember, all photographic evidence must be accurate. It is nearly always necessary to crawl around or under the aircraft wreckage to get pictures.

Enhancing composition by simplification is another tool at our disposal (and subject of a later essay), but deliberately leaving out elements or cutting highlights to hide elements of our image is a new concept for me as well.

Hands. They should always be turned slightly so they are seen from the edge with fingers together, or hide the hands altogether behind your subject or somebody else next to them. Never position hands straight on with open fingers.
