Hot spot - often undesirable concentration of the central beam of a flood or spotlight on the subject.
Hue - name of the color (e.g. red, blue, yellow).
Hydrobromic acid - acid liberated during the developing process by the reduction of bromide.
Eliminate Hot Spots. Any highly reflective surface behind your subject, such as glass or mirrors, will reflect the flash back to the camera's lens where it is recorded onto the film. This will result in hot spots on your images.
The light creates a hot spot on the background that bounces light through the bottle, showing its translucent quality and color. Because the bottle is set at an angle, dark shadows form at certain places to add depth and interest.
Keep an eye out for hot spots in the frame caused by sunlight shining through the tree canopy. When looking at an image, the eye is naturally drawn to the brightest point in the frame.
The oil from your hands can create a concentrated hot spot on the lamp, causing it to bubble and burn out. LAMP REPLACEMENT.-As lamps get older, their color characteristics and light intensity may change.
In addition, the hot spot makes it difficult to assess the composition. A finer glass will tend to have a worse light fall-off. Two solutions are to add a Fresnel lens to even up the illumination, or to use a Boss screen.
Note that in this uncropped version the frame suffers from a pair of hot spots. This is because the light source is too small. Light boxes or umbrellas would spread out the light, reducing or eliminating the hot spots.
In one documented instance, a TIC was used to isolate a smoldering hot spot in a grain storage facility; by isolating and removing only the affected grain, 75% of the stored crop was saved.
In fact, in 2005 I did a tour of all three white shark hot spots in a seven-month time span, and had by far the best combination of topside and underwater encounters in South Australia.
Why Maui: Though all of the islands in Hawaii were built from the same hot spot in the earth’s crust, the only other island to have had volcanic activity in recorded history was Haleakala on the island of Maui.
A single graphic image containing more than one hot spot. For example, imagine a graphic of a bowl of fruit.
Teeth are natural elements that add ivory or white color to a colored photos thus showing a kind of hot spot with the eyes. I use little background as I crop close. Always black.
As long as the light is off-axis from the background, the hot spot will not appear in the photo. In fig. 6, we see a typical setup where the shadow of the subject and the incident reflection are avoided.

A note on multi-point metering:
DSLR cameras commonly allow the user to adjust exposure hot spots within a frame, thereby choosing between either a single or center-weighted point for metering - or - multiple points for averaged metering.
I also did a little on some shadows and painted back white on a hot spot (Figure 8). The result is a more dramatic photo because I haven't tried to reduce the multiply effect from the whole image, only on specific areas (Figure 9).
If you can, use natural daylight. Light filtered through the clouds will help defuse any hot spots.

Use a tripod if you have one. If you don't, find some way to steady your camera.

Simplify: Watch out for busy backgrounds, hot spots, black holes, and extraneous elements entering the frame.
While graphically interesting, these trees broke up the sunlight into dappled hot spots and shadows, creating too-bright blotches on Melillo's forehead and sections of his shirt while rendering most of his figure a featureless black.

This type of shot is a technicians dream. It has no hot spots; and no harsh shadows. The only problem is it is boring! This is hardly what Nikon was thinking of when they invented the “creative' lighting system.

Where before we had a few spots that were a little hot (too bright), with the second lighting setup, we eliminated all hot spots and ended up with a final with which I was more than satisfied. Success! ...
The light from the aquarium will brighten your subject. If you are intent on using a flash, be sure to take the photo from an angle, a 60-degree angle is fine, so that you do not get a blinding hot spot.
Next, switch to the night shot and paste the copied image as a new layer. Then, select the new layer and change the Blend Mode to Difference and click OK. You'll get the correct night shot with the hot spots subtracted out.
