Fixer and Hypo Clearing Agent (HCA) should be mixed according to the package instructions. Powder fixers often come with the hardener included in one package. Other liquid fixers require mixing of 2 elements.
The use of a washing aid such as Hypo Clearing Agent will reduce wash time, and help eliminate any of the magenta sensitizing dye so you will get nice clear film base.

Washing aid
A chemical solution used after fixing and washing the film or paper. It shortens the washing time by converting residues from the fixer into forms more easily dissolved by water. Also called hypo clearing agent.
The washing time can be reduced and the fixer more completely removed if a washing aid (also known as hypo clearing agent, or HCA) is used after the fixer.
An optional final immersion in a film conditioner.
