Instant film is a photographic film that is designed to be used in an instant camera (and, with accessory hardware, with many professional film cameras).

Instant film is a kind of film equipped for chemical self-development of each single image that is triggered by the instant camera after exposure. The first instant film and cameras were produced by Dr. Edwin H.

1963: First color instant film developed by Polaroid; Instamatic released by Kodak; first purpose-built underwater introduced, the Nikonos
1970: William Wegman begins photographing his Weimaraner, Man Ray.

only a limited number of emulsions are offered by Fuji (in particular no B&W film), Kodak, and Polaroid (the non-instant film is Fuji film).
The Kodak system is known to suffer from light leaks
Less sharp (maybe).

Polaroid Film This is instant film that combines photographic prints and film into one medium. Polaroid film serves not only as film, but also as the finished print.

Polaroid pretty much controls the market in instant films, so much so that the term "Polaroid" has become synonymous with instant films.

Predicting the final look can be tricky so professional photographers often install Polaroid instant film backs onto their cameras so they can do some test shots with instant film before loading up the camera with regular film.

A film holder, named after the company who made the first instant film. It fits on the back of a medium-format camera or slides into a large format film holder that takes instant-picture material.
