Refers to a strategy used by televisions and some older monitors, where the electron gun draws every other line during a single sweep across the active area of the screen. The alternate lines are filled in during a second pass.
Interlaced. This is the term used to describe an image sensor that gathers its data by first processing the odd lines, and then processing the even lines.
