JUXTAPOSE - In composition, to place two objects close together or side by side for comparison or contrast. Often helpful in showing scale in an image.

When colors are juxtaposed, our eyes perceive a visual mix. This mix will differ depending on the proportions of allocated areas.

Light can be used to imply depth by finding situations where a brightly lit subject is juxtaposed against a detail that's in shadow.

A good way to introduce a ruin is to show a historical photograph juxtaposed to a current photograph. This will go a long way in showing how the building has or has not transformed over the years, and will create an interest in examining the details.

Look to juxtapose complementary or contrasting colors, or to place a few repeating shapes prominently in the image frame. The spacing of elements is sometimes less intuitive.

The characteristic trails produced by zooming are clearest when dark and light subject matter are juxtaposed, such as light corals and dark blue water.

Depending on context, either the least significant byte (of more than one juxtaposed bytes) or the least significant bit (of the bits in a byte or word of data). Contrast with MSB.

The basic premise of an environmental portrait is that if you take a picture of a thing, then all you have is a representational picture. If you juxtapose it with something else then you can create a greater meaning.

Juxtaposition. Juxtaposing is the act of placing two objects side by side so that they are compared. In photographs, unlike subjects are often placed next to each other, or 'juxtaposed', so that their differences are exaggerated.

I captured a similar effect with the earthy colors of a mountain lion juxtaposed with a white-out environment (#7). Notice how incredibly soft the lighting is. This kind of outdoor light is flattering for virtually any subject.
