Kelvin degrees work backwards from how we expect them to work in photography and common sense. Kelvin degrees are the same as Celsius, except for being 273 degrees apart.

Measured in Kelvin degrees (K), important to photographers to understand how light changes and film records it and to filter it to fit the film in use. In digital photography the light conversions/adjustments can be made via software.

Currently used mostly with filters. Conversion Formula: divide 1,000,000 by the Kelvin degrees. Also, mired is that feeling of walking into a dingy, cavernous "No-Problem Location" with one tiny light.

other, but light sources are often defined in terms of their color temperature and we speak of using the correct film with a particular type of light or setting the "white point". In addition, the measurement of color temperature is in Kelvin degrees.
