Lens system
Group of lenses (sometimes just one lens) that enable the sharpest and brightest pictures to be taken. Often simply referred to as the lens or objective.

Lens system consisting of two or more elements. Compound lens designs allow the lens designer to reduce lens aberrations, making maximum apertures larger and improve resolution.
Compression:
The process of reducing the size of a file.

Lens system - describes the type and quantity of lenses available for use with a particular camera.

A lens system with multiple optical elements directs the image of the film to a viewing screen. Different lenses are used for different aspect ratios.

Special lens systems (achromatic or apochromatic doublets) using two or more pieces of glass with different refractive indexes can reduce or eliminate this problem.

Autofocus - A lens system that automatically focuses before the exposure is made. A delay of a second or so is required before the shutter opens, enabling the camera to gauge the distance to the subject and focus the lens.

-Achromatic - lens system that has been corrected for chromatic aberration.
-Acid - chemical substance with a pH value below 7.

Compression
A digital file is compressed by removing redundant information. Some image file compression methods discard visual information that may degrade image quality.

Compound lens
Lens system consisting of two or more elements.
Concave lens
Simple lens, or lens shape within a compound lens, whose surfaces curve inward. Such a lens causes light rays to diverge.

Achromatic Lens An Achromatic lens is a system of lenses joined in order to minimize color and shape distortions (chromatic and spherical aberrations) that are inherent in a single lens system.

Eyepiece The lens system used in an optical instrument for magnification of the image formed by the objective. Eyepieces come in various types. Every eyepiece has a focal length.

A disadvantage of twin-lens systems is that parallax errors occur. Parallax refers to the difference between the image seen through the viewing lens and the image transmitted to the picture-taking lens (fig. 4-8).

The zoo is a great location to put this two lens system to work. Local duck ponds, parks, and national forests also work. Working more towards the wide side opens up a myriad of possibilities.

Optical zoom is produced by the lens system and can be adjusted from the minimum and maximum focal length according to the condition we need. An optical zoom is made to make you look at the subject in a closer way without having any body movement.

It gets people into a large sensor interchangeable lens system, but without the bulk and expense (both real or perceived) of a DSLR system. At this, the camera succeeds very well.

Digital photography for those new to DSLR or interchangeable lens systems is often confused because there is more to the equipment than just a camera and a lens. One piece that causes many amateurs to scratch their heads is a lens hood.

The lens system is focused on a fixed point, usually at the hyperfocal distance. With the use of a medium size aperture (f11) most subject distances from 6 ft to infinity can be rendered reasonably sharp. The simplest cameras use this system.

Optical zoom is a camera feature where the lens system physically changes focal length to zoom in on distant subjects
Opaque
Not transparent, among other meanings including to 'block out' a specific area of an image or film.

The light source reflects off a print or passes through a transparency and is focused onto the image sensor by a mirror and lens system. Because of this mirror and lens system, the sensor does not have to be as wide as the area being scanned.

Compact, lightweight ‘bridge’ cameras offering long zoom and high image quality have proved a big hit with those looking for an alternative to bulky interchangeable lens systems.

This viewfinder is a combination of conventional window type optical viewfinder and the electronic viewfinder system developed by the company, both combined in a fixed single lens system. The camera comes with a 2.

Optical axis
Is an imaginary line passing horizontally through the center of a compound lens system.
Optical disk
A digital storage system commonly used for mass storage.

But amazingly, all these designs -- from the simplest homemade box camera to the newest digital camera -- combine the same basic elements: a lens system to create the real image, a light-sensitive sensor to record the real image, ...

An exposure reading that measure from the camera position with the metering sensor pointing towards the subject. This is the system used by most through-the-lens systems or with handheld meters that haven't got an invercone over the sensor.

Canon differ in that they also sell really cheap mass-market cameras that use the same lens system as all of their other gear. This means they can spread development costs over a much larger product base.

To obtain near distortion‑free images at closer distances than can be achieved with a standard lens, underwater photographers have a choice of two options, both of which involve changing the characteristics of the lens system.

they can concentrate on manufacturing digital lenses that are interchangeable on any dSLR following the standard. This is an incredibly attractive proposition for consumers who will not need to worry about being tied in to a particular lens system.

Also, with plenty of megapixels on offer, digital zoom can achieve a much larger zoom factor than would be possible with the optical lens system alone, whereas file sizes will be smaller since you only need to save part of the full screen image.
