Lightroom works like Apple's Aperture in that it doesn't change the underlying RAW photo files.

In Lightroom, I first select all Master File images that I imported and apply a universal 7x10" custom crop aspect ratio available in the Library Quick Develop module. This is a standard album Mat opening of the albums that I use.

The Camera Raw and Lightroom Detail panel offers sliders for Noise Reduction and Sharpening.

I only use Lightroom for my workflow production, which is brilliant as I take so many images. I used to use Capture 1 and then Raw Shooter, but Lightroom allows me to deal with my photographs far more efficiently.

The most pleasant image editing 'discovery' for me this year was Lightroom. Just after I acquired Lightroom my wife needed a slide show of her business trip to Argentina.

Sometimes photographers want to eliminate this color by altering the white balance, using warming filters (mostly in the past), or changing the color temperature in Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom.

Learn to work efficiently in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, Apple Aperture or any other workflow program you decide to use. This will give you more time for experimentation in the digital darkroom, as well as behind the camera.

Although these tutorials aim to be independent of your editing software, recommended programs include Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, GIMP, Aperture, or whichever program came with your digital camera.

Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture are widely used throughout the industry. While Photoshop's strength is in image editing, these programs really shine in their organizational features.

Now, editing can be done using various editing softwares such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture. Now the problem is, with all these ease of the digital age, why do some people feel the science of photography hasn't evolved?

To view and organize your photographs, try Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture. These can also perform simple edits, making your work in the digital darkroom much easier. For advanced picture editing, no program is more popular than Adobe Photoshop.

While these plug-in software tools are targeted towards use with Adobe Photoshop, they will work equally well with Adobe's Lightroom 2 and Apple's Aperture 2. The plug-ins work on both Windows and Mac platforms.

Programs like Adobe® Lightroom® have an option to back up RAW files as .DNG files. To protect digital negatives (RAW files) for many years to come, converting them to DNG may be well worth the effort.

Because original RAW files are quite fragile and may be corrupted with the use of third party software, many applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge, use sidecar files to store the changes made to them.
