LPI (Lines Per Inch) A measurement unit of print resolution that relates to the frequency of the half-tone screening. Common LPI numbers are 85 for newsprint, 133 for magazines, and 150, 175, or 200 for high quality reproduction.

Lines Per Inch (LPI) - The yardstick used to measure halftone resolution. Luminance - The brightness or intensity of an image. Determined by the amount of gray in a hue, luminance reflects the lightness or darkness of a color.

One more sample -- my Dad photographed a lot of papers after the war (no xerox in 1946!). I think the typewriter was 6 LPI, 10 CPI. An 8.5 x 11 page fills the 35 mm frame at this magnification.
