Luminescence
The visible light produced from a surface submitted to invisible radiation such as UV, X rays and son on. Unlike fluorescent light it continues to be emitted after the existing source is removed, gradually fading away.

luminescence
a phenomena of light emission by a chemical composition which is film-forming and which absorbs light, releasing it when extraneous light sources have been removed; a "glow-in-the-dark" capability.

-Electroluminescence - conversion of electric energy directly into visible light.
-Electronic flash - artificial lighting produced by an electronic discharge in a gas filled tube. A single tube can produce a large number of flashes.

Step 18 - Luminescence Shifts
Fiddling with some luminescence shifts, I adjusted yellow up +5. Also blue luminescence was corrected to -48 which adds a little more contrast to the clouds.

Certain chemicals produce visible radiation by chemoluminescence. In living things, this process is called bioluminescence.

Thanks for your tips and suggestions, I live in San José and have a home at Playa Carrillo where your lovely picture was taken. Costa Rica has a quality of luminescence that makes for wonderful shots apart from the abundance of nature that one ...

I need a set of lights that will help me do shots in outdoors mainly, and I haven`t been able to get any information on what to buy for this type of job...is 500wtts per monolight enough?! or what kind of luminescence number should I be looking for?! ...
