Macro Focus
Like on the S10 and many compact cameras the P10 28-300 mm's macro mode at the wide end of the lens allows you to focus so close that it almost becomes impractical as the camera/lens ends up shading the image area (we use our backlit ...

Macro Focusing Often refers to the capability of certain zoom lenses in which the lens group moves, enabling the lens to focus closer than the normal close-up focusing distance.

Macro Focusing
Since DOF is so small, it's usually a good idea to use manual focusing for 1x macro shots so you get the DOF exactly where you want it.

MACRO FOCUSING & DEPTH OF FIELD
Photos at high magnification have a correspondingly shallow depth of field. Precisely controlling the location of focus is therefore much more important than normal.

Adorama Macro Focusing Rail Set
This rail set fine-tunes camera position and focus for small items, and is an essential tool when depth-of-field is razor-thin. 4-way camera movement makes this ideal when mounted on both tripods and copy stands.

MACRO- Macro focus is the ability of the camera to focus on objects close to the camera- closer than about 12".

One of those very important extra bits of equipment is the macro focusing rail.

You can buy convenient adjustable rail systems (macro focus rails with one or two rails) that slide the camera back and forth for this type of precise macro focussing.
When you're dealing with closeup work the tiniest motion is magnified.

The best way to make framing and focusing easy is to use a geared macro focusing rail. You mount your camera on the focusing rail and then mount this device with your camera/lens attached on your tripod.

the most daunting task I have ever experienced with my 60mm Macro focusing on the right spot and keeping the focus as it is. At extreme end of micro, when you are 1:1 on your subject, the DoF is unimaginably narrow. The light is also a great concern.

5 Series 1 Macro Focusing Auto Zoom. I had just picked one up, complete with original Series 1 logo cap, for a whopping $35. Guess what? It still works great.

Macro Mode: Displays a magnified image on the LCD in macro focus shooting, suppressing flash to avoid saturated whites.
Landscape Mode: Reproduces the atmosphere of the entire landscape. Captures saturated blues and greens.

These lenses obtain razor-sharp focus for subjects within the macro focus distance, but lose their ability for sharp focus at other distances.

Nikon Coolpix L20 - similar to the L18 above, closer macro focusing but same cons, doesn't look like a good choice ...

A zoom lens is any lens that has an adjustable focal length, and digital cameras can have optical or digital zoom -- some have both. Some cameras also have macro focusing capability, ...

Many 35mm macro lenses are 1:1, meaning the image on the film is the same size as the object being photographed. Another important distinction is that lenses designed for macro are usually at their sharpest at macro focus distances and are not quite ...
