mAh - A rating used in the consumption of power of an electronic device such as an LCD or the storage capability of a device like an NiMH or Nicad rechargeable battery (i.e. 1600mAh cell). It stands for milliAmperehour.

Batteries are rated in milliampere-hours (mAh). This tells you how much current a battery can supply and for how long. The most common rechargeables are Nickel Cadmium. (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) of which the latter are more powerful.
7 V, 1400 mAh (51.8 Wh) Lithium-Ion battery. This new battery has about twice the capacity of that used in the Digital Album, however the new colour LCD screen on the Vista will obviously use more power.
If they have any weakness, it's their overall life; lasting only about 400 charge and discharge cycles. Their power is rated in mAh (milliamp hours) and the higher it is the longer life it will have between charges.
Higher capacity (various ratings from 1600 to 2700 mAH) cells have similar capacities to alkaline cells. Not as hazardous to the environment as NiCads. Have a similar recycle time to full charge as NiCads - around 4-6 seconds.
I used 1600 mAh Nickel Metal Hydride batteries and typically got two dives per charged set.
