Bit Map
A representation, consisting of rows and columns of dots, of a graphics image in computer memory. The value of each dot (whether it is filled in or not) is stored in one or more bits of data.

Bit Map: Representation of characters or graphics by individual pixels, or points of light, dark or color, arranged in row (horizontal) and column (vertical) order.

Tone-map the HDR image. Hit the "Tonemap the Hdr" button in the toolbar. A window will pop up with a slightly bewildering array of tone mapping algorithms and parameters.

Adjusting the tone alters the shape of the 'S curve' (gamma curve) used to map the linear image data captured by the sensor into the correct gamma.
