35 mm film is the basic film gauge most commonly used for both still photography and motion pictures, and remains relatively unchanged since its introduction in 1892 by William Dickson and Thomas Edison, ...

In a word, MM shows the focal length. But I'm sure you wanted to learn much more than that. You want to know what focal length means and how an understanding of it can improve your photography.

Center, 12 mm, f/5.6. Ignore the loss of detail in the kid's play house due to overexposure. These all look very close, with the Sigma being a little less sharp than the others.

MM - Minimalist Theme (7.x)
MM is a minimalistic HTML5 three-column, fixed width layout theme for Drupal 7 perfect as a frameworks for developers. Its a subtheme of the excellent Boron HTML5 base theme.

MM: Multimedia
MS: Memorystick
Noise: Electrical interference in analogue electrical equipment. In digital cameras this manifests itself as pixels of the wrong colour in dark areas of an image, shadows etc.

Be warned that both of these terms can be somewhat misleading. The lens focal length does not change just because a lens is used on a different sized sensor - just its angle of view.

Mm, same here. Don't like video tuts at all, too inconvenient, takes too long, just plain annoying.

Apart from removing the limitation on stacking filters on wide angle lenses, the argument most often heard for using larger filters is that one can hand hold them, dispensing with the holder and adapter ring completely.

A 17 mm lens is considered to be an ULTRA-WIDE ANGLE LENS.
ULTRA-WIDE ANGLE LENS - An extra-wide angle lens. Generally refers to 35mm camera lenses with focal lengths shorter than 24 mm.

a 10 mm lens is a super-wide lens that help you capture "so much in a shot" without the need to go later in Photoshop or other program and stitch 3 or 4 pictures together ("making puzzle"), to get that one picture that you want.

My 35 mm camera system affords me better lens choices. While I do like the zoom lens on my digital camera, but my tried and true Nikkor lenses are far superior.

Also, much is made of the empirical relationship (empirical - relying on experience or observation alone, often without due regard for system and theory - Websters!) between film, lens and system resolution.

The 28 mm lens proved to be the best focal length in this case. The power lines and pylons serve as a nearly unnoticeable, natural border.

The 15 mm lens comes into its own when shooting scenery. Again balancing the available and artificial light I have taken lots of pictures of Purple Seafans. No two are identical. And there are many angles to explore.

Top: 105 mm B&W circular polarization filter. I don't have warmtone polarizers, as I can combine the regular polarizers with 81 series filters.
Middle: Lee 81, 81A, 81C. I do not have an 81B, as 81 + 81A = 81B.

the 10 lp/mm curves (green) should be very close to the 5 lp/mm curve (blue).
the 5 lp/mm curves (blue) should stay >95% for the whole X-axis.

Nikonos 15 mm. If I had to choose just one lens for pelagic creatures it would be the Nikonos 15 mm. With its 94-degree diagonal coverage, large marine mammals like whales and dolphins can be rendered as full-body portraits.

This zoom lens is usually included as part of the entry DSLR (such as the Canon 1000D, 450D, 500D, and others) starter kit.

Thus if the telescope has a focal length of 1000 mm and the eyepiece has a focal length of 25 mm, the magnification will be 1000 / 25, or 40. There are several types of eyepiece designs.

A chronological organization uses folders named with dates in the format yyyy-mm-dd. For example, a folder named 2008-02-10 would contain photos taken or downloaded on February 10, 2008.

The film is referred to as IX240 and is only 24 mm wide compared with the 36mm width of 35mm film.

The film cartridge, with a slightly smaller film than 35 mm film, is as easy to load as a battery film as it slots effortlessly into a chamber on the camera, and can be exchanged for another film without having to finish the roll.

50 mm lenses fit these criteria perfectly. They typically are focused by extension (simple mechanism), don't require aspheric elements (simple lens element shapes), ...

Since the sensor of an APS-C camera is 23 x 15 mm in size, it only captures the center of the projected image from a lens which is designed to provide an image which will cover a 35 x 24 mm sensor (35 mm film).

Start with a pair of zooms such as a 10-22 mm and 55-200mm if you prefer digital lenses, and you know you won't be using those with 35mm cameras. This pair of zooms is perfect for general purpose photography.

I remember my first 35 mm camera. I was attending high school. For Christmas, my parents bought me a simple rangefinder camera. While it did have a built in light meter, the exposure and focus had to be evaluated and manually set.

1 mm sensor resolves 3436 ppi . The math for this deduction is as follows: the long dimension of the sensor is 22.7mm, which is .894 inch. The long dimension of a full resolution image from this sensor is 3072 pixels. Divide 3072 pixels by .

In consumer cameras this would be from 8 mm to half an inch. (Nice mixture of measures:-)
These pixels are never the same and each of them has different charge leakage rate.

7 mm" or "35-105 mm equivalent" on them. Basically, the equivalent focal length of a lens (in milimeters, "mm") tells you the field of view of the lens.

The first imaging plates were only a few mm square, but now they are available up to 80mm square, providing ample space for THz imagery.
In addition, the light source size (spot diameter) can be easily changed to match the specimen.

A 28 mm lens will provide for a very wide angle, while a 300 mm lens will bring an image in approximately 10 times closer than it actually is.

For those ground pictures, McArthur Velcroed one 760 body with a 180-mm Nikkor lens beside the window in the U.S. lab module. He used a second one with a flash attachment to record experiments, often in intervalometer mode.

It is easy to correct this kind of distortion by simply moving back and using a longer focal length (50 to 100 mm) on your zoom lens.

35 - 105 mm*) is a common zoom level that provides good magnification. However, other cameras offer up to 10x magnification or more, which increases the focal length ten times (e.g. 38 - 380 mm*).

Since the sensor in the cameras is smaller than a 35 mm film frame you need to consider the crop factor. In cameras using the APS-C sensor this factor is 1.5x or 1.6x.

35 MM print film is available in several different speeds, 100, 200, 400 etc. This number is referred to as ISO. The main difference between each is the films sensitivity to light.

We use the same shoot techniques, camera angles, lighting techniques, lens lengths (yes, I know there’s a 2:1 factor reduction, but I’m referring not to the numbers in mm’ ...

A prime (fixed focal length) lens is set to one mm focal length. In other words, the focal length cannot be adjusted. If you want to get more or less of the scenery or object in the photograph, then you need to physically move yourself in or out.

A plus 10 macro lens at 84 mm focal length and a plus 4 lens at 210 mm will result in the same magnification but latter option will produce a smooth blurred background effect.

If you shoot with both a super telephoto and wide angle lenses, you should consider purchasing a second tripod for the exclusive use of the 500+mm as it needs to be extra large and beefy. Regardless of your set up, perform this test.

The focal length is usually expressed in millimeters (mm) and determines the angle of view (how much of the scene can be included in the picture) and the size of objects in the image.

The Photo CD combines 35-mm film imaging and digital technology, so you can show your pictures on a television or computer monitor.
