Mode
Techniques Glossary Mode
Functions on cameras that can be selected to offer a rage of features such as metering pattern, exposure setting or focus type.

Burst mode timing
Professional photographers have always used film-based cameras that were capable of taking several frames in one burst. Often as many as 4 to 5 fps (frames per second). This finished off a roll of film in a couple of seconds.

Screen blending mode does the opposite of Multiply and essentially divides the base color by the blend color.

Mode 1, determines the camera shake in vertical and horizontal panning and compensates blurring, this mode is effective when shooting static subjects.

AF MODE
A function used to switch between the camera's auto focus modes. The camera has two AF modes. [iESP] detects the subjects in the entire picture, determines the primary subject and decides on the focusing point.

M/A Mode
Finally, there is my favorite feature of Nikon's AF-S lenses. Anyone who owns one of the new high-speed AF-S telephotos can tell you they are a joy to use. They lock on in an instant.

Bulb Mode
Bulb mode is a shutter speed mode that allows the camera operator to hold open the shutter for as long as the shutter release button is held down.

What mode do you typically shoot in for your bird shots? It seems like you might find some value in shutter priority mode.

Bulb Mode - Allows a photographer to keep shutter open for as long as he holds down the shutter release button.
Burst - or commonly refers to as Continuous Shooting; lets you take multiple pictures one right after another.

Macro Mode
Macro mode lets you move your closer into your subject to take a close up picture. It's great for shooting flowers, insects or other small objects.

Burst mode - also know as 'continuous shooting mode' allows your DSLR to take multiple shots in quick succession. The speed - in frames per second - and total number of shots varies between DSLRs.

Quick mode - Quick mode is the simplest mode to understand and use. Simply hit the "on" button and the software will then focus. It is best for still shots without a lot of layers that may confuse the camera.

Blend Mode Technique

Figure 1 shows a scene of a sunset on a beach. The foreground looks okay, but the sky is too light and lacks contrast. When the shot was taken, the sky looked more dramatic than shown in this image.

Burst mode
A special mode for shooting a sequence of images in rapid succession. Also known as continuous .
Depth of field
A measure of the area of an image that is in focus, measured as the depth from the focal point of the image.

Burst mode. The ability of a camera to take one picture after another as long as you hold down the shutter release button.

Refers to digital cameras that offer one million pixel capacity or more.

Macro Mode
A setting on the camcorder that allows standard lenses to focus from less than and inch to approximately 1.2 metres.

Macro mode - a mode that allows you to get very close to objects so they appear greatly enlarged in the picture. Most compact cameras have a macro setting with an icon of a flower to designate it.
Megapixel - Equal to one million pixels.

Macro Mode.
Shooting extreme close up images magnifies movement and, as such, will require faster shutter speeds, wider apertures or stabilization in one way or another.

Burst Mode. Also know as continuous mode or "Auto wind" on older SLR's. However, today's Digital SLR's have bust modes of up to 8 frames per second. Great for sports and action shots.

Macro mode (for compact users)
Most compacts have a macro mode for shots closer then 12-24 inches. Trying to take macro shots without going into macro mode is guaranteed to cause many headaches! ...

Movie mode
This camera can record moves in several resolutions, from 320×240 pixels at 30 frames per second up to 1280×720 pixels at 24 fps. Movie mode is a nice feature to have, but there are some clear limitations.

Tiled mode

-Macro Mode
When trying to capture all the details of your subject, use the macro function on your camera. This will bring your subject into sharp relief.

Digital SLR cameras, along with most other digital cameras, generally have a mode dial to access standard camera settings or automatic scene-mode settings.

Manual mode - Provides full control over both aperture and shutter speed, which enables you to change exposure and depth of field.

Macro Mode: Displays a magnified image on the LCD in macro focus shooting, suppressing flash to avoid saturated whites.
Landscape Mode: Reproduces the atmosphere of the entire landscape. Captures saturated blues and greens.

Custom mode (C).
The custom mode is to be found on many Canon point and shoots and some newer digital EOS cameras, starting with the EOS 5D. Custom is essentially a dial setting which allows you to roll your own icon mode.

In manual mode the exposure dial works the other way round: you choose an aperture and shutter speed, and the metering system will set the exposure dial to tell you how light or dark the object you're pointing at is: ...

Video Mode
The ability of a digital still camera to capture short segments of low-resolution video intended for use in e-mail or web pages.

Mode Dial - Get creative and choose a customized Mode Dial setting! The Basic Zone Modes (icons) automatically choose the exposure settings for your selected scene.

The mode dial of the camera has a variety of options which can be used under different conditions as follows:
Full Auto Mode - This can be used by default whenever you're unsure of what settings to use and is the ideal mode for beginners.

Auto Mode
This is the automatic mode found in all cameras. It is used by beginners and professionals who just want to take a quick snap without worrying about exposure settings.

This mode (a Tv or S symbol) does just the opposite of the aperture priority mode. Now, you select the shutter speed manually and the camera sets the correct aperture.

This mode limits the metering area to the central part of the viewfinder. Spot metering covers about 1% to 3.5% of the image area (typically 3.5%). Partial metering covers about 9.5%.

Night mode.
However, you will never find, on any camera, anywhere, no matter how much you spend and no matter how much the sales person tells you how invaluable a cameras multitude of 'modes' and 'features' are, ...

Color mode. Color scientists understand the need for compensation and creative choices that bring better color to images.

Macro mode is usually indicated by a flower symbol on the mode dial or elsewhere.

Cameras with large buffer memories can take shots continuously to the buffer capacity, hence a "burst" of pictures.

1.Macro mode. Change the camera setting to macro mode. It is usually the little flower symbol in most cameras. When the macro mode is selected, the camera will automatically focus on the subject close to the lens of your camera.
