The modeling lamp for the StarFlash® is a 250watt halogen bulb and has three settings to assist you as you develop your shots: Off, I, and II.

 


Modeling Lamps
The only function of the modeling lamp is to give you an indication of the effect that the flash will have-it doesn't affect the actual exposure at normal flash shutter speeds.

Electronic flash units specifically designed for portraiture usually have tungsten modeling lamps located near the electronic flashtube. These modeling lamps provide constant, low-intensity illumination on the subject or background.

In a darkened studio, I placed a studio flash inside a softbox and took advantage of the ambient light produced by the modeling lamp in conjunction with the more powerful flash.
