Multi-exposure

switch to multi-exposure mode (#2)
pre-expose with a high-shutter speed and small aperture to a blank paper (e.g. 1/2000s, f/22)
expose your picture (non-compensated) ...

SilverFast Multi-Exposure captures the maximum dynamic range of the original by performing multiple scans with different exposures.

Better than that, you just import your single RAW into Photomatix (or your tone mapper of choice) and process it as you would a multi-exposure HDR.

Multi-exposure function, with a superimposition of already-recorded images on the LCD monitor for at-a-glance comparison
Attachment of copyright credits on recorded images
RAW button for single-action switching of image file format ...

Also worth noting is that although image quality is impressive, the ISO 25,600 image from the A55 is not a 'straight' shot, but was captured using multi-exposure NR - the only option available at this ISO setting.
