Multicoated lens and filter surfaces
It's sometimes said that it's more difficult to clean multicoated lenses and filters than uncoated versions, but that isn't true.

 


Personally I go for multicoated filters for the most part. I buy the "reduce reflections" argument - I've had a few pictures suffer from lens flare - one from a really bad internal reflection - caused by uncoated filters. As for cleaning, yes.

If you're one of those photographers, you should use a multicoated UV filter, which helps curb any additional image degradation, or flare, that you might otherwise get from the sun or reflective light sources. Multicoating can ensure that 99.

If it gets scratched, simply replace it. They start at under $10, but a multicoated filter, which may cost a bit more, will improve image quality while a cheap filter may cause problems. Check the specs for "multicoated" before you buy.

It's made of very high quality multicoated glass with the use of aspherical pieces. With an F2.0 - F2.4 aperture range it's also VERY fast and bright allowing lots of light in.

The thing I look for in a ‘skylight' or UV filter is multicoating. I use HOYA multicoated filters on all but my most wide-angle lenses (where they can cause vignetting).

Much like the front element of a large format camera, the Lensbaby 3G is a multicoated two-element lens that can bend around on a small bellows. This allows you to vary the area of selective focus at will.

Most AI lenses made until a few years ago were also supplied with the coupling prong so they would be compatible with either metering system. With all-black barrel, rubber focusing ring and multicoated elements.
