Non-substantive

Photography Non-lossyNormal

Non-substantive is a name given to color film in which the color couplers are not contained within the emulsion, but are introduced during processing.

The structure of the Kodachrome emulsion is fundamentally different from that of other slide films in that it is non-substantive. The film is also known as an Integral Tripack.
