Optical storage
A peripheral device for storing data. It may be WORM or rewritable.
File formats, optical storage media (CDs, DVDs) and hard drives use error detection and correction techniques to deal with data loss or corruption.
The next generation of optical storage media that uses a blue-violet laser, allowing for a higher density of data on a disc that is the same diameter as CD/DVD. Single-layer Blu-ray disks have capacity of 25GB and dual-layer can hold up to 50GB.

Disc - Typically round optical storage device such as a CD or DVD.
Disk - A physical hard drive on which data is stored. Also referred to as a drive.
